Nine years of making a life
Nine is not a waiting room for ten. There is a whole year of your life here, with its own places, decisions and reasons to be glad you are together.

A convention, if it means something to you
Hallmark’s US anniversary guide associates the 9th anniversary with willow or pottery traditionally and leather in its modern list. This is one publisher’s gift convention, not a rule for every country or relationship. A Starmap print does not acquire those materials by marking that year.
US editorial convention only; not a worldwide history, local-language review or Starmap material specification.

Give this year its own attention
A gift can notice something that would disappear inside a decade recap: the year you found a new rhythm, returned to an old place, or made a difficult decision more manageable for each other. You do not need to treat the coming tenth as the more important celebration. Choose a memory the recipient would enjoy revisiting now, rather than an achievement chosen for how impressive it sounds.
A beginning worth returning to

A ninth year, in its own right

Make a dedication specific
| A broad first draft | Ask yourself… | One original direction |
|---|---|---|
| “Nine wonderful years” | Which part of those years would they recognise immediately? | “The years between the round numbers.” |
| “You are my everything” | What ordinary thing do you still look forward to together? | “Still saving you the window seat.” |
| “Forever and always” | What small promise would you happily make again? | “Tomorrow, the same table.” |
These are writing prompts, not reviews or promises about a relationship. Use your own words, even if the final sentence becomes much simpler.
Choose a date from this year if it tells the story
An anniversary print can show the wedding, a later shared milestone or a known day from the current year. The message can connect the later memory to the nine years behind it. Use the actual location and time of that later date; do not keep the old sky while relabelling it with a new city. When the time is unknown, accept a disclosed assumption rather than implying that a guess is exact.
A keepsake, a pairing or time together
One print, one memory
It suits someone who enjoys living with meaningful objects. Leave a little space around it and let one short dedication do the work.
An independently chosen companion
A pottery piece, a woven object or another useful gift may echo a convention, if the person likes it. These are separate purchases, not a Starmap product range or bundle.
An experience or practical help
It may be the better choice if the person has little wall space, dislikes decorative gifts or would welcome time more than another possession.
Do not make nine carry the whole decade
Keep the print focused, and save other memories for a letter or conversation. Check the finished proof for the exact local date, words and composition. Choose size after measuring the available wall, and allow time for the real destination-specific delivery estimate. If you later mark ten with another image, the pair can have two honest moments rather than a forced matching story.
Before the round number
Can we choose a date from this year?
Yes. The current-year memory can represent the life you have made over nine years. Explain the choice instead of presenting it as the wedding date.

Name one recognisable habit, place or promise. Read the line aloud, remove anything you would never normally say, and keep the longer explanation off the poster.

Choose one private moment, then write the small line that makes it yours.
