A decade, mapped to a moment
A decade holds more than one poster can explain. The gift becomes clearer when you decide whether you want to remember the beginning, the life since, or two separate chapters.

A convention, if it means something to you
Hallmark’s US anniversary guide associates the 10th anniversary with tin or aluminium traditionally and diamond jewellery in its modern list. This is one publisher’s gift convention, not a rule for every country or relationship. A Starmap print does not acquire those materials by marking that year.
US editorial convention only; not a worldwide history, local-language review or Starmap material specification.

Ten memories can lead to one date
Write a quick private list from across the decade: places you lived, changes you chose, familiar journeys and days you still talk about. You do not need one item for every calendar year. Circle the memory your partner would recognise most immediately. A wedding date gives the anniversary a clear anchor; a later date can describe the life that followed. The list is a way of choosing, not a request to squeeze ten labels into one map.

A decade, and room for more.

Two fictional Cape Town designs use 10 September 2016 and 10 September 2026, each at 20:15 local time. Each has its own calculation and proof. The same place, season and clock time can produce similar-looking skies; a decade does not require a dramatic visual rotation. They remain two separate artworks.
One date, or two prints?
One moment with room for the years
Choose the beginning or a later turning point, then let a short dedication connect it to the decade. A separate letter can carry the rest.
Two honest chapters
A then-and-now pair can be meaningful when you have space and both dates matter. Each print needs its own design, finished-proof approval and order selection; this page does not promise a bundle or one combined sky.
A colour is not a metallic process
The US-list material associations are optional gift themes. A warm line, a pale surround or a colour name does not establish metallic ink, foil, tin, aluminium or gemstones. The print’s actual materials need their own confirmed product specification. If your partner would prefer a metal object or jewellery from another maker, that can be a thoughtful alternative rather than a reason to rename paper as something it is not.
Make a decade line shorter
Write the long version elsewhere
Tell the story of what changed and what remained. Keep it in a letter so the poster does not become a small wall of text.
Keep one thought on the page
The examples use “The beginning we still carry” and “A decade, and room for more.” Treat them as original prompts, then choose the phrase that sounds like your relationship.
Review both the words and the layout
Check line breaks and the smaller date/place caption in the finished proof. A bigger paper format is not permission to fill every spare area.
Plan a pair on one measured wall
Use paper rectangles at the actual supported dimensions and leave a deliberate gap. Measure the complete outer frame dimensions before deciding how a pair will sit above furniture. Keep typography and palette related if you want the dates to feel connected, or choose one focal print if two would overwhelm the room. Neither screen scale nor a digital room scene proves physical print sharpness.
A decade, without extra claims
Does a metallic colour mean metallic ink?
No. The colour and the manufacturing process are different facts. This page makes no metallic-ink, foil or gemstone claim.

Yes, as two separately calculated designs. Similar season/place/time choices may look similar; do not invent a rotation just to make a comparison more dramatic.

Start one private design. If a second date matters too, give it its own calculation and proof.
