A little wonder. Real astronomy.
The stars above a place change with time. Your map starts with both.
One place, one instant
We calculate a sky for your selected location and time. The map represents the celestial hemisphere above an ideal clear horizon, looking upward: north at the top and east to the left.
Why the time matters
Earth turns beneath the stars throughout the day. A date alone cannot identify one sky. Unknown times use an explicitly disclosed 10 pm local assumption that you can change before approval.
A map, rather than a photograph
A star map describes celestial positions. It does not reproduce clouds, terrain, city lights or what could be seen in daylight. Constellation lines are visual guides, and a flat circular projection necessarily changes the shape of the sky.
Careful about our claims
The calculation records its catalog, time rules and rendering versions. Scientific validation and print qualification are release requirements; we do not promise a level of accuracy or material lifetime without evidence.
